The most popular and delicious tea
We are going to show you the best way to get it into your golden milk for your body’s good.
Golden milk is a really delicious and easy way to get your daily dose of turmeric.
Turmeric lattes, or golden milk, have become popular in recent years for their health benefits.
Turmeric lattes are easy to make at home with just a few ingredients.
Turmeric powder, or ground turmeric, is the key ingredient in golden milk and is responsible for the distinct yellow color.
Remember that golden milk should be taken with food or after a meal due to the presence of curcumin, which can cause an upset stomach if taken on an empty stomach, but you can enjoy your golden milk either hot or cold.
What’s so great about turmeric?
Turmeric is a spice that has been used in Indian cuisine for centuries. It is also known for its potent medicinal properties.
Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, is responsible for most of the health benefits associated with this spice.
The benefits of Turmeric tea
Consuming foods and drinks made with turmeric are known to minimize joint pain and reduce inflammation, fight off various infections and build (and boost) immunity due to antibacterial properties, create healthy glowing skin, and delay diabetes.
Curcumin is known to help moderate insulin levels and even boosting the effect of medications that treat diabetes, protect the brain and improve memory functions in Alzheimer patients, and even increasing levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a compound known to help your brain form new connections and promote the growth of brain cells.
Finally, it’s even known to tame heartburn and indigestion issues.
This isn’t even getting into the research on cancer and 1000s of other studies of this popular spice.
Turmeric really is a wonder spice with myriad benefits, so let’s get into making the most of it with delicious golden milk.

This combination of heat, a healthy fat (being the milk) and black pepper is the ideal scenario to make the curcumin in your turmeric available to your body because curcumin by itself is not easily digested by the body.
Golden milk is best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. Simply reheat and enjoy!
How can you find a good turmeric?
Knowing how to find good turmeric powder is important because in the past there have been cases in which turmeric has been adulterated, especially with lead.
Does adding some chromate to turmeric can lead to damage the nervous system?
Some of turmeric manufacturers actually *add* lead chromate to their turmeric powder to make it cosmetically brighter.
This despite the fact that lead chromate may damage the nervous system, cause kidney and brain damage, and anemia, according to NJ.gov.
The bad effects of taking too much of Turmeric
Turmeric takers should also be aware that there are many forms of turmeric (including liquid liposomal turmeric) that contain the highly toxic solvent, EDC, a known carcinogen that can stay active in the body for more than 100 years!
Recent research published by Integrative Medicine confirms this, showing that many turmeric or curcumin products contained as much as 1,728 times more toxic EDC than its established safety limit.
It can lead to symptoms including insomnia, diarrhea, itching and headaches in some people, according to WebMD.
In rare cases, a person may suffer from liver damage or have a severe allergic reaction to a tainted supplement in such a situation.
Ethylene Oxide (ETO)
ETO is also used by the spice industry to reduce microbial contamination, but may lead to eye pain, sore throat, difficulty breathing, and blurred vision, and is itself a carcinogen.
Acute exposures to ETO gas may result in respiratory irritation and lung injury, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, shortness of breath, and cyanosis.
Looking for an easy golden milk recipe?
Look no further! Chronic exposure to it has been associated with the occurrence of cancer, reproductive effects, mutagenic changes, neurotoxicity, and sensitization.
Of course testing for harmful microbes is important and your turmeric should be grown properly, but even irradiating turmeric to kill germs is not desirable.
The good news is that reputable companies regularly test their turmeric. And there are some companies that do steam sterilize with clean water, never irradiate, don’t use ETO, EDC, or other alphabet nightmares that don’t belong in your beautiful golden milk!
This is a big reason we here at Coconut Country Living began TurmerTrue™ testing from the beginning, triple testing our turmeric for harmful microbes, pesticides, and chemicals like lead that don’t belong in this healing spice. And while the FDA and USDA may not test for specific metals like lead, we test every batch and go beyond our organic certification to bring your our “Beyond Organic” guarantee.
